Hello all
I have been keeping bees since april 2010 and find myself
becoming more and more interested in the alternative hives
even if I still have more conventional ones
I went into vinter with 7 hives : 3 danish troughhives, 3 12x10 (danish frame size, they are langstroth vertical type) and one warré with a swarm from juli 1. 2011.
I have made 5 new warré so all of this seasons bees will be in one of those ( i hope)
I see some of you have put on a climate zone on , dont know what that is or how it is graded
So I live in southern Scandinavia, we have a coastal climate, a bit windy, summers are up to 30c
and vinters are down to -30c.

A big thank to you Jon for making this site

Greetings Boxie!

I myself will keep some traditional hives as well as my beloved Warré hives. I vote that discussions about traditional beekeeping not be taboo here but encouraged.

With that said, I do not want this to become a traditional beekeeping forum though because many good ones already exist. We are here to fill a niche for Warré keepers who are tired of having to integrate among more traditional beeks.

Warré keeping is unlike other kinds of beekeeping and it's those differences that make this place so valuable.

Again welcome and the best of luck on your Warré adventure.

Jon
